The shop is a converted office that had a small warehousing space that was perfect for a repair shop. We started with nothing, and throughout the year built repair stands, display fixtures, acquired professional repair tools, added some paint, knocked down some walls, etc. Until finally we built the shop we have today. It’s hard to believe that not even a year has passed and we are where we are. Word of mouth has been great and we deeply appreciate the support we have received from the bicycle community. Meet the Business Owner:
Philip V. Philip, now 33 years old, started cycling when he was 15, and hasn’t looked back since. When he was 17, he got his first part time at a shop, where he learned the hard way to repair bikes. With no one around to help him, he had to rely on shop manuals and many phone calls to experienced mechanics to help him out. Turns, out it was the best thing that could of happened to him as he realizes there’s no shame in reading the manual, and that trial and error taught him how to get things done the right way. After his bike shop days, Phil went on to work for a major bike company, learning the ropes of customer service and marketing. Phil managed a fleet of demo bikes which he hauled numerous to and fro across the country. Phil’s experiences led him full circle, where he now manages many facets of Joyride, including: sales, marketing, website direction, advertising, and the race team. When he has a spare moment, he still likes to get his hands dirty in the shop.
